Dealing with change in relationships can be navigated more successfully with better awareness and understanding of what is happening for the other and the couple. Relationship counselling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. At times its helpful to work with couples who are divorcing or separating. The objective in these situations is to facilitate a separation that allows for healing and individual emotional repair. Relational trauma is very real and often unrecognised. Working in session to understand what and how impacts are reflected for individuals and couples is highly beneficial to the development of the self and assists with building higher levels of psychological resilience.
Working together in session on how past experiences and learned behaviour come together to influence present-day thinking and the effect that has on future life goals and expectations is important to moving ahead with a better life experience. Whatever approach is best suited for the patient is framed around specific needs and a treatment plan is built in collaboration with the individual or couple. The hope is that the work in therapy will assist in relieving emotional pain and assist in integrating parts of psychological life and that this psychological resilience can be demonstrated in improved self-care, life choices and relationships.

We promise confidentiality and ethical practice in all matters. We provide a safe place for you to work on your life goals and challenges. Our intention is to help you develop strength from your challenges, heal from your strife and move to where you want to be in your life. At our first meeting it is friendly and easy going. We sit face to face and unhurriedly get used to beginning our conversation. We spend 50 minutes together. We do three initial sessions before you decide if you are going to stay on for a longer period. During this time I assess whether I think I can be of some help to you, and you get to ask yourself if I am the right therapist for you.If we decide that we want to work together, we enter into an agreement about session times and how we will assess the work and what type of therapy is going to assist you and your goals.
Wabi-Sabi the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection
Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counselling and 'talking' treatment, we aim to help you recover motivation, perspective, and enthusiasm for life.
Many individuals experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. We can assist you in managing and understanding these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing. Often trauma is of long standing and may not always be apparent in daily life. We work with you to gain an understanding of how your experiences inform your present day, and to understand what you need to retain for life going forward. Trauma is not only the big event trauma but can be cumulative and implicit.
Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held with couples or individually. Working in a safe supportive environment we build strategies that help individuals and couples communicate more effectively and gain understanding of how the relationship dynamic operates. At times it's helpful to work with couples who are divorcing or separating. The objective in these situations is to facilitate a separation that allows for healing and individual emotional repair.
Couples therapy work is informed by several models including Gottman Therapy, Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems, Relational psychoanalytic theory. The appropriate intervention is designed to address each couples concerns and style preferences. Assessment is critical to determining the effective intervention in consultation with the couple.
Anything that you bring to our session is relevant. You set the pace and we facilitate and guide in a gentle way that helps both the emotional and neurophysical integration of your experiences.
All matters that are important to your life story are relevant to be shared between us in a safe conversational space. Life can be like music. Sometimes calm and soothing and other times discordant and uncomfortable. We work together to reclaim your music and life rhythm.
Psychotherapy cannot change the fact that difficulit or traumatic things occurred. However, it can render them less excruciating so that life can resume its flow instead of remaining damaged and overwhelmed by those events or situations from the past or near present.
Over time, as you tell your story or stories and as I listen to you and respond, things begin to happen. One thing is that over some weeks you get into the way of experiencing my interest, concern and empathy and I get to experience your growing commitment to the process. Trust is built and confidence gained in this meaningful journey of self development. We engage in the process of setting up the conditions for your own self reflection – which of course begins to happen in between your sessions as well as in the sessions. You begin to observe your feelings thoughts and behaviours and even relationships in an increasingly new light with greater insights.
Psychotherapy has proven scientific support from neuroscience and other evidence based research in assessing the efficaciousness of the therapeutic benefits and healing resulting from professional relational work.

Psychotherapists are mental health practitioners who come to this advanced clinical work via a training in any of the fields of psychology, psychiatry, social work, general practice in medicine, counselling or mental health nursing. Frequently therapists come to the training and clinical practice from other professions such as medicine, allied health and or the humanities.
It is noteworthy that psychotherapists do not give counsel or advice but aim to create the conditions of self reflection and dialogue that enable the client to arrive at personal insights her/himself in the safety of the therapists supportive presence. The pace and tone of sessions are determined by client goals and needs.
Non medicating psychotherapists will if necessary refer clients to a medicating psychiatrist or another medical clinician, after which they may decide to continue in therapy while taking medication.

Cancellation Policy
Appointments made are a time reserved especially for you. Quatro Wellbeing supports you with a clear cancellation/DNA policy to ensure that we can make the most of the time we have.
We recognise cancellation/DNA policies can be unpleasant and honestly, we would rather we didn’t have to, but we must ensure we can provide a service to all our clients and remain viable to continue to support you. Consultation time is the basis of our practice and late cancellations mean that another client may miss out on an opportunity to receive support, a therapist may have wasted preparation time, have their schedule disrupted and lose income. Unlike brief medical appointments, a 50- or 90-min therapy appointment is significant in a day and difficult to refill.
While we help you be aware of your appointment times, you should not rely on this as your appointment times are your responsibility.
You can cancel an appointment by return email or responding to the SMS within the 48 hour cancellation period.
If you make a cancellation within one full business day, that is less than 24 hrs before the scheduled appointment time, then a cancellation fee of 100% of the scheduled fee will be charged.
Cancel before 48 hours of the scheduled appointment no cancellation fee will be incurred.
A change or cancellation requires 48 hours notice.
Any appointments changed or not kept outside of this policy may be charged at the full fee rate.
So please be sure to work within the policy to avoid fees.
